Fall in love with your marketing materials

When it comes to creating brochures and leaflets for your business the sheer volume of choices can be overwhelming.

It can be easy to just resort to the same types of style again and again leaving your marketing looking repetitive and unloved.

If you need inspiration, we have pulled together five simple ways to inject a bit of love into your next marketing campaign and help to elevate your brand.

1.      Think about your target audience

Not all communication needs to be a brochure, postcard or leaflet. There are lots of different ways to get your messaging out there and many different styles and shapes that can help to elevate your design.

According to the Data and Marketing Association direct mail response rates in the UK average about 4.9%, significantly higher than emails at 0.6%. It is a growing trend with people going away from digital formats in favour of tangible designs. Don’t just stick to the same methods you have always used. Do your research and look at how your target audience is most likely to respond. Will they appreciate in depth analysis and lengthy brochures or prefer a quicker read which can easily be accessed? Are there different shapes and designs that are more likely to resonate?

Don’t be afraid to question and try new styles.

2.      Don’t be afraid to think outside the box

Die cutting is a process which uses a specialist machine to apply pressure and cut out pretty much any shape in paper, card and fabric.

It means you can create bespoke shapes for leaflets, postcards and business cards or even cut out small designs to embellish and decorate larger projects.

Using a die cutter means that you can create completely unique materials which really stand out.

Don’t think it isn’t possible on a lower budget as well as there are standard shape cutters which mean you can still get the innovative shape design without the costly bespoke budget to create one off cutters.

3.      Innovative doesn’t have to mean expensive

Look at different ways to create folds in leaflets

Don’t be duped into thinking that creating unique elements mean it will be too costly and resort to sticking to standard designs.

Innovative doesn’t have to mean expensive. Of course, once you get into bespoke designs and more costly papers it will add to the budget but there are still plenty of ways to update your design without piling on the pounds.

Talk to your printers. Here at LG Davis we specialise in offering innovative ways of creating great designs.  If you are struggling for inspiration gives us a brief and let us do the hard work to find you some suggestions and ideas.

Things like gate folded leaflets can be really impactful without adding to the cost.

4.      Make it personal

If there is one tip that should be on the top of your list this year it is variable data print. The top print trend of 2025 variable data print allows you to speak directly to your customers by personalising each and every message you send out.

Easy to add onto any project it uses personalised databases to add details from customer names to preferences and location. Talk directly to your customer using data to tailor content on a standard design to fit each individual recipient. If you are still sending out generic mailers then hyper-personalisation needs to be your first change for the New Year.

It is seen to drastically increase engagement and response rates by making each piece of mail feel unique and relevant.

5.      Build projects designed to last

Building encapsulation into your designs will help to make your marketing materials last longer.  Encapsulation uses a sheet of clear plastic to create a waterproof, airtight seal over your printed materials. It means you can build a level of durability to your designs so that they last.

When you are working closely on a project it can be difficult to find that spark of inspiration which is why many businesses fall back to the same types of marketing materials.

However, with trends changing constantly this can soon leave your projects outdated and unloved. Don’t forget to think outside the box and do your research when looking at your next project to make sure that you are using all the right tools to have the biggest impact. Sometimes simply talking to someone from outside of the business can help find a different perspective.

If you are in need of some inspiration and want to look at how to inject some spark into your next project, then talk to one of the LGD sales team who will be happy to provide hints and tips on getting the most out of your budget.
