Celebrating 60 years of service

This month we are celebrating 60 years of supporting UK businesses with quality print and office supplies here in Birmingham.

Over the last 6 decades the business has grown immensely and we are so proud to be marking this momentous occasion with our team.

LG Davis started out as a small shop in Balsall Heath in 1962 selling office supplies. It was launched by Ron O’Donnell to support his family and offer a quality customer experience for local businesses.

Fast forward to today and we may have substantially grown but our commitment to customer service remains, with Ron’s daughter Liz Smith now at the helm.

As we mark 60 years of successes it is important to take a moment to celebrate how far the company has come.

In the last few years alone LG Davis has acquired five new businesses and has grown to become a multi-million pound enterprise supporting a mixture of local and national leading firms including National Express, Hayley Group PLC, NHS Trusts and UK Athletics.

Our continual expansion has helped to save specialist skills in Birmingham and we are one of only a handful of firms now offering encapsulation as well as bespoke manila folders.

It has also seen us become the printer of choice for many NHS services who welcome our can do attitude and innovative look at solutions for even the most complex of tasks.

As a leading female in the industry, our managing director Liz offers a unique insight into the traditional industry and has always been passionate about helping to grow the next generation of workers and diversify the workforce. It is why we have supported five apprentices in the last few years and continue to offer yearly opportunities to youngsters looking to get into the industry.

Working closely with Aston University we have cemented our dedication to servitization by creating a number of new services to help customers - including our own innovative stock and deliver service which allows customers to buy in bulk and store items for delivery as and when needed.

By increasing our storage facilities in 2001, moving to our extended 25,000 sq ft base in Kings Heath, it supported the expansion of this stock and deliver service. Our services have also grown to cover everything from printing and branded merchandise to office supplies and furniture.

Marking 60 years of growth we would like to thank all our customers, past and present, as well as our loyal workforce.

We look forward to seeing where the next 60 years take us as we continue to lead the Midlands printing industry with pioneering solutions.
