2023 – a year of new starts and continued collaborations

2023 has been a busy time for LG Davis. From new starts and ongoing awards to continuing our commitment to greener resources and being chosen to share our industry expertise.

The last 12 months have brought many interesting projects as well as achievements and continued collaborations.

As we look forward to 2024, we take a moment to share our highlights from the past 12 months and say thank you to all our customers and staff who have made 2023 such a special year.

New starts

This year welcomed the start of our new manufacturing operative Ray Matts. Ray joined the team to help fulfil our growing orders. Helping with packing and picking orders in the manufacturing department Ray has quickly become a valued member of our team and is helping to fulfil all our NHS stock requirements and office product deliveries.

Awards and recognition

2023 has certainly been a year of awards and recognition for LG Davis. Unlocking 9 of 14 Made in the Midlands awards we are now well on our way to completing the Made in the Midlands program which supports strong Midlands manufacturers. We are especially pleased to have been awarded Made Green which recognises our continued commitment towards an environmentally sustainable, greener future and the Made Top Microsite for appearing in the top #Microsite of the Day post for our office furniture recycling scheme.

Our sponsorship of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust Making a Difference Awards helped to show our continued commitment to supporting NHS Trusts. As a main sponsor for the awards, we were responsible for all the print for the booklets, award certificates, table numbers, name cards and stationery.

It was a great opportunity to show our appreciation for the team and the difference they make in our community.

Having worked within the industry for many years Managing Director Liz Smith also continues to be asked to provide her expertise on ongoing industry issues. In February Liz was approached by leading print publication Print Week to give her opinion on what the future holds for the industry and how we can continue to grow the workforce of the future.

Business growth

In July we purchased a new encapsulation machine ‘Comet’ making LG Davis one of the only printers in the Midlands to offer the hardwearing protective coating finish to printed materials. Often used on menus, maps or instore catalogues encapsulation is a high-grade film used to offer a sanitised, wipe down surface to items which are frequently handled. It is a service we are seeing an increasing requirement for. The new machine has grown our capacity and now means we have extra resources inhouse for faster and more diverse offerings.

We also renewed our contract with Aston University and will continue to deliver printed items such as business cards, compliment slips and letterheads. Having worked with the University for over four years it is an honour to be able to support our local University with much needed printing supplies as they continue to deliver first class educational facilities. WE continue to support them on a number of new projects and have become their regular problem solvers. As part of a recent Open Day, we were able to source and brand 200 coloured fleeces for the day and have also created a personal Portal based ordering system for other marketing materials such as pens, notepads and mugs.

Looking to the future

This year we have continued to cement our commitment to greener initiatives in the industry. Our free furniture recycling scheme has saved more than 50 pieces of office furniture from landfill by taking away old office furniture for free when offices upgrade so that the items can be recycled instead of simply thrown away.

Little steps like this and our solar panels creating greener energy help to deliver a more sustainable industry which is reducing the carbon footprint.

A final word …

So, as 2023 draws to a close we just want to say a big thank you to all our customers past and present and each one of our team that goes above and beyond to put customer service at the heart of everything we do.

It has been a busy year and we are very much looking forward to seeing what 2024 brings.
